DATA PROTECTION ACT 2018/GDPR

Day 1

Introduction, history of GDPR. The structure of the DP Bill definitions (personal data, processor, controller etc), Manual unstructured data held by FOI public authorities Manual unstructured data. Territorial scope and jurisdiction.

Day 2

Detailed study of the grounds for the processing of personal data, special personal data and criminal offence personal data. Each data protection principle is studied from a legal and practical standpoint. Specialist practical application of policies and procedures are in Day 5.

Day 3

A study of the accountability principle, security principle, processor and controller obligations and options for  transfers of personal data outside the European Union (and transfers post Brexit).   The afternoon considers the right of subject access.

Day 4

The day explores the remaining rights of data subjects and procedures which they entail, and the main exemptions from all rights.  The afternoon considers the common law of confidence and disclosure.

Day 5

Application of data protection to data sharing, Internet, HR, Marketing including PECR, CCTV, data matching, data analytics and data warehousing (big data and profiling).  Public sector processing/Health.

Day 6

Commissioner’s powers, Codes of Practice, notification, Offences exam prep (and Mock exam to take home)

The fee for a single public day training course is £400; two days training £760; three days (£1,080), four days (£1,360); 5 days (£1,600) or 6 days courses (£1,920).  All fees quoted are ex VAT.
