The freedom of information audit

Amberhawk can advise on developing procedures for handling requests under the two FOI regimes that apply in Scotland and in the rest of UK, requests for information made under the Environmental Information Regulations, and requests made under the Re-use of Public Sector Information Regulations.

This will include advice and procedures in connection with:

• recognising freedom of information request and distinguishing a request from other access regimes
• recording important events associated with a request
• dealing with requests where other third parties are involved or where information is shared with other bodies 
• evaluating the application of the exemptions
• handling complaints and anticipating what could happen after access.
  We can also advise on (or establish) the following requirements:
• legal requirements for the client's publication scheme
• methodologies and classification of data defined in the client's scheme
• appropriate methods of publicity for the client's publication scheme
• management support for publication scheme

We can, where requested, revisit your organisation six months after an information audit, to check that procedures have been implemented and that compliance with freedom of information obligations have been fully achieved.
